Homegrid Labs is a Singapore property technology startup building tools for property search, valuation and housing intelligence.

We work with property, transaction, location and other datasets to help buyers better understand and compare homes.

You will explore how available data can be used to estimate and explain property values, research and test different approaches, and develop a working prototype that can form the foundation for further development.

You will also have the opportunity to take this work beyond experimentation and help make the resulting analysis accessible to our consumers, whether through our main product, a separate service, or both. This provides exposure to the full process of turning data science work into something people can actually use and understand.

This is an exploratory startup project, so the problem and solution are not fully defined beforehand. We are looking for someone comfortable investigating unfamiliar problems and figuring out what works.

Breadth and depth of the project will depend on your interests, skills and produced work, and may change over time as we learn more about the problem and available data.

You will be responsible for investigating and developing a data-driven approach to property valuation, including:

  • Exploring available property and transaction data.
  • Identifying and sourcing additional datasets that may improve the analysis.
  • Researching and comparing suitable valuation and modelling approaches.
  • Building and evaluating working prototypes.
  • Investigating how reliable and useful the resulting estimates are.
  • Turning suitable results into a consumer-facing experience through our product or a standalone service.
  • Considering how valuations, explanations, confidence and limitations should be presented meaningfully to users.
  • Documenting findings, decisions and limitations throughout the project.
  • Strong foundation in Python and data science.
  • Understanding of statistics, predictive modelling and model evaluation.
  • Ability to independently research unfamiliar technical problems and evaluate different approaches.
  • Ability to work with messy real-world data and identify useful external datasets.
  • Ability to explain technical decisions, assumptions and trade-offs.

Experience with property data, geospatial analysis, valuation, or serving data or model outputs in a product is useful but not required.

By the end of the project:

  • A working and reproducible valuation prototype.
  • Relevant datasets, data-processing and modelling code organised for continued development.
  • Evaluation of the approaches explored and their results.
  • A usable way for consumers to access and understand the resulting valuation or analysis, through the main product or another suitable interface.
  • Documentation of important findings, assumptions and limitations.
  • A final handover explaining the recommended approach and possible future improvements.
